Psalm 105

 1 Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name;

   make known among the nations what he has done.

2 Sing to him, sing praise to him;

   tell of all his wonderful acts.

3 Glory in his holy name;

   let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.

4 Look to the LORD and his strength;

   seek his face always.

 5 Remember the wonders he has done,

   his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,

6 you his servants, the descendants of Abraham,

   his chosen ones, the children of Jacob.

7 He is the LORD our God;

   his judgments are in all the earth.

 8 He remembers his covenant forever,

   the promise he made, for a thousand genenerations,

9 the covenant he made with Abraham,

   the oath he swore to Isaac.

10 He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree,

   to Israel as an everlasting covenant:

11 “To you I will give the land of Canaan

   as the portion you will inherit.”

You remember

We forget

You remember

the promises you have given us

the blessings you shower upon us

the covenants you made with us

We forget

You promise to walk beside us

in the valleys and on the mountains

We forget that you are present

at birth and death

We forget that like Abraham

You will lead us to new places

new moments

new possibilities

We forget

You remember

Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name;

You remember

We forget

We forget You have

blessed us with everything we need

We forget that if we seek we will find

knock and the door will open

ask and will be given

We forget you are the shepherd and we are the sheep

And in your pastures

in your house

our dwelling place shall be

We forget

You remember

let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.

You remember

We forget

We forget that you placed us in this beautiful garden

this wondrous Earth

and commanded us to be its steward

We forget you have called us

to leave our fishing boats and carpenter’s shop

and follow you

We forget you have promised us

a room in your mansion above

and when the time is right

You will come and take us home

We forget

You remember

He remembers his covenant forever,

   the promise he made, for a thousand generations,

Praise to you O God, who keeps his promises

Praise to you O God, who anoints us with blessings

Praise to you O God, who stands by his covenants

Hallelujah!

Amen.
